Job Link offers a variety of workshops to help you be more competitive in the workplace. Our experience shows that the more knowledge you have when doing a job search or making a job change, the faster you will get that next job. The weekly networking group provides the support and job lead sharing needed when searching for a job.

SELF ASSESSMENT ( First Recommended workshop) :
This workshop assists you in evaluating your values, skills and interests and using these tools in making occupational choices. You will obtain a clearer understanding of what you have to offer employers.

EXPLORING THE NEW WORLD OF WORK using labor market research and networking skills
In this workshop you will learn how to develop networking skills and use a variety of labor market information tools. This will serve to guide you in the career development process and help you navigate the changing world of work.

SELF ESTEEM & MANAGING CHANGE IN THE WORLD OF WORK
This workshop addresses self-motivation and self-confidence in the midst of change. It also explores components of self-esteem, the signs of resistance to change and goal setting strategies.

NETWORKING GROUPS

JOB NETWORK
YOU MUST HAVE A JOB GOAL TO ATTEND! On-going, weekly meeting of individuals involved in the Job Search Process. This group is an opportunity for networking with others as well as a support base. A great way to jump-start your week!
EVERY MONDAY

55+ NETWORK
Through guest speakers, informative handouts & different topics of discussion these meetings address areas pertinent to the older workers. For the topic of the month please call 565-5550.

JOB SEARCH WORKSHOPS

THE HIDDEN JOB MARKET
Beyond the classifieds - - what is the "Hidden Job Market" and how to find it! Participants will learn to reduce competition and shorten job search time by identifying unadvertised job openings.

BASIC RESUME WORKSHOP
Prerequisites:

  • Clear Job Objective
  • For people who do not have a resume or have one that is not working
  • Comfort with word processing required.

    • This 2-day, 2-part resume workshop will provide you with the tools to write an effective, targeted resume. The curriculum includes one-on-one feedback and assistance
ADVANCED RESUME WORKSHOP
Prerequisites:
  • Clear Job Objective
  • Have an existing resume that needs updating/refocus
  • Comfortable with the computer for word processing

    • This 2-day, 2-part resume workshop will assist you in updating or changing your existing resume to be more effective. The curriculum includes a clinic with facilitator feedback.

INTERVIEWING IN THE NEW MILLENNIUM
This in-depth Interviewing Workshop focuses on the process of the "Behavioral Interview" using Accomplishment Statements and current interviewing techniques. There will be some interview practice and an opportunity to be videotaped. This preparation will boost your confidence and increase the chance of getting/landing the job!


SPANISH WORKSHOP
Job Search workshop for Spanish speakers. Taller de la Bìsqueda del Trabajo para los que hablan espanol.
