WORKFORCE INVESTMENT ACT (W.I.A.): Federal Employment
Program, provided by Sonoma County Human Services Department, Employment
and Training Division
Provides career counseling, job search assistance, vocational testing
and assessment, workshop facilitation,
and services to people of all ages. May provide funding for short-term
vocational training to eligible people who meet guidelines.
ACADEMIC COUNSELING: Provided by Santa Rosa Junior
College (SRJC)
SRJC has a Counselor on site to assist with academic planning.
SENIOR EMPLOYMENT SERVICES:
Provided by WIA, Experience Works.
WIA Provides employment or retraining assistance to
eligible persons 55 years of age or older, in addition to adults of other ages.
Experience Works: Provides career counseling, job
search assistance and training to eligible persons 55 years of age or older leading to employment in the
private sector.
SERVICES FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES:
Provided by California Department of Rehabilitation (DR), & Goodwill Industries of the Redwood
Empire (GIRE).
Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) Services:
Provides individualized employment and retraining assistance for
eligible individuals with a physical or mental impairment that makes
it difficult to get or keep a job and that require rehabilitation
services in order to return to the labor force.
Goodwill Industries of the Redwood Empire:
Provides vocational assessment, work experience, job coaching and
job search assistance to individuals with disabilities or barriers
to employment.
VETERANS’ SERVICES: Provided by Employment Development
Department (EDD) Veterans Programs and North Bay Veterans Resource Center.
Employment Development Department (EDD): Provides
individualized services to qualified veterans in
job search, resume preparation, vocational assistance,
placement assistance as well as information and
referrals to Federal, State and County Veterans
entitlements. Contact a Veterans Representative at 565-5541 to schedule an appointment.
North Bay Veterans Resource Center: Provides vocational training, job search,
placement assistance, and supportive services
to veterans of all eras. Eligibility requirements
apply.
YOUTH SERVICES:
Provided by Workforce Investment
Act (WIA), Sonoma County Human Services Department, Employment and
Training Division, Youth Education & Employment Services programs provide regional
services that include
mentoring, academic enrichment, job readiness and
employment skills training for eligible youth.
Services
are provided by local community-based organizations year round (Eligibility requirements apply).

conduct job search independently may utilize the same resources as other job seekers at Job Link.
